Children’s Supplement
In the Netherlands, people with children younger than 18 years old are entitled to:
• Child benefits
• Child budget
• Childcare allowance
Child benefits
With each child, the government contributes to the costs associated with raising a child. If you live or work in the Netherlands, and have children under the age of 18, you are entitled to child benefit. You will receive the child benefit from the SVB. (SOURCE SVB)
Childcare allowance
Get your children to daycare? You might get the childcare allowance. This is a contribution towards the cost of childcare. To receive the childcare allowance, you must meet several conditions. Do you want to apply for the childcare allowance? This must be done within 3 months following the month in which your child first goes to the childcare center.
Child budget
Do you have children? You might get the child budget. This is a contribution towards the cost of your children under 18 years old. The amount of the benefit depends on your income, how many children you have, and their ages. Is your financial ability too high? Then you will not get the child budget.
You usually do not have to ask for this benefit. You will automatically receive a message if you are eligible, according to the tax law. When you get the message, you can apply it yourself.
